ABOUT

Skim Milk is the solo project of Sam Davidson, a contemporary clarinetist and producer from Vancouver BC. Skim Milk reaches across technologies and eras, from Bach to Boards of Canada, often citing soulful drum grooves, whimsical clarinet melodies, and antique piano riffs. Skim Milk is the paper m of music genres—yesterday’s news, shredded and pasted together to craft something entirely new and original (sometimes filled with candy). Sam Davidson is also a member of critically acclaimed band Brasstronaut, folk-jazz band ElkHorn and sometimes side-man to Toronto-based fiddler Jaron Freeman-Fox.

By reaching across genres, instruments, technologies and eras, Davidson not only evokes impressions of past greats, but asserts his music as a new synthesis of these far-flung elements.
